The PROSERPINE MUSEUM is located on the BRUCE HIGHWAY at the southern entrance to PROSERPINE adjacent to the information centre.

OPENING HOURS: 9am until 4pm Monday to Friday. Other times - Group bookings, 10 or more only, arranged in advance.

ENTRY FEE: $7.00 for adults, School aged Children $3.00 - no charge for children under school age. The museum will open at other times by request for groups and special occasions.

Please Note: the Museum has an annual maintenance closing period between mid December to the end of January each year.

AWARD WINNING MUSEUM

The Proserpine Museum has three times won the coveted and prestigious Whitsunday Tourism Award in the Heritage & Cultural section. The Museum has now been inducted into the Whitsunday Tourism Hall of Fame and in 2008 it won a Judges Commendation at the Queensland Tourism Awards.

The Proserpine Museum offers activities not usually provided by small country town museums.

Tables and chairs on the front veranda are available for visitors use and there is a large light and airy foyer for travelling and local exhibitions.

Children are catered for with interactive activities that will test their powers of observation and satisfy their curiosity.

There is a small theatre where a selection of DVDs on local topics such as - natural history, famous identities & military sites are shown.

THE AIM of the Proserpine Historical Society is to collect and preserve the history of the Whitsunday Region and its associated communities and to research and record mans involvement in the area for the education and enjoyment of all.

TO THIS END the Historical Society acquires materials relating to the history of its industries, agriculture, natural resources, technology, military, art, education and multi cultural communities which extends and/or enhances the existing collection.
